WI Walking Book

In partnership with the Woodnoth-cum-Shavington Women’s Institute (WI), Shavington-cum-Gresty Parish Council has successfully secured £2,000 from the Cheshire East Flourish Fund to develop a beautifully crafted book of local walks around the Parish.

This creative, health-focused project encourages physical wellbeing by inviting residents to explore the area and discover hidden walking routes they may not have come across before. Whether you’re new to the community or a long-standing resident, this book is a valuable resource for enjoying the outdoors and getting to know the Parish from a fresh perspective.

Led by Helen Lea from the Women’s Institute, with the support of Councillor Gordon McIntyre and Parish Council staff, the project has come to life in a way that blends community spirit with active living. The book includes a variety of walks for all ages and interests. One highlight is the #QueenBee Walk, originally created for families during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – a route filled with fun for both children and adults.

Also featured is the brand-new Heritage Walk, developed in collaboration with the Shavington-cum-Gresty Heritage Group, offering a chance to step back in time and learn about our area’s rich history as you stroll. Free copies of the book are available now from the Village Hall or download below
